The original recipe for the Firecracker Crackers calls for 1 box of saltine crackers, but I thought it would be more fun and festive to change that up a bit! I love all the new mini crackers, so I used a variety of them in this recipe...they turned out most wonderful :) You can serve them with a dip of your choice, but we really just love them to snack on just as they are.
4th of July Firecracker Crackers
1 box saltine crackers or
a variety of mini crackers like I used--
1 box each of Mini Saltines, Mini Club Crackers and Cheez-Its
1 cup canola oil--do not substitute
1 package dry ranch dip and dressing mix
2 tablespoons crushed red pepper flakes
Place crackers in a large Ziploc freezer bag--
I had a huge bowl with a lid that I used--whatever works!
In a measuring cup or bowl stir to combine the oil,
ranch mix, and red pepper flakes.
Pour the mixture over the crackers in the bag and seal the bag shut.
Shake and flip the bag around for a few minutes
or until all the
crackers are evenly coated.
Allow to sit for 1 day so that all the flavors and oil absorb.
The cast of characters...
I placed my crackers in a huge bowl that I had...
you can also use a gallon ziploc bag...
I poured the dry dressing...
and the red pepper over the crackers...
Then I poured the oil over the crackers...
I put the lid on...
Then I kept turning the bowl over and over until all the crackers are well coated...
Every now and then, when I passed the bowl,
I would give it another good turn...
I did this all day...
this kind of dedication is what makes these crackers so perfect...:)
Look how festive they became for the party!
Your guests will be most impressed!
