Red Velvet Ooey Gooey Cake

Ok, we know how much I love cheesecake...
and how much I love Red Velvet Cake...
well...
I was thinking about baking Ooey Gooey Cake Bars
and this wonderful idea hit me!
Yes, my friends, the combination was a success!

Red Velvet Ooey Gooey Cake

Cake:
1 package red velvet cake mix
1 egg
8 tablespoons butter, melted

Filling:
1 8-ounce package cream cheese, room temperature
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 tablespoons butter, melted
1 16-ounce box powdered sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine the cake mix, egg, and butter
and mix well with an electric mixer.
Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased
13 x 9-inch baking pan or you can line it with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
Add the eggs, vanilla, and butter and beat together.

Next, add the powdered sugar and mix well.
Spread over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes.

Make sure not to over bake as the center should be a little gooey.

Cool completely before cutting into squares.

The delicious cast of characters...

In your mixing bowl, add the 1egg, cake mix
and the stick of melted butter....

Stir until it's all combined...

Pat it into the bottom of the 9 x 13 pan...
I always line mine with parchment paper because I can lift the cake out when it cools and I don't have a messy pan to clean up!  :)

Next, onto the amazing filling!
Beat the cream cheese until smooth and
add the eggs, vanilla, and butter ...

Add the powdered sugar...

Then pour this deliciousness over the crust...

Bake at 350 degrees for 40-50 minutes
and your cake will look simply wonderful like this...

After the cake has completely cooled, cut it into bars and enjoy!
