I took a package of split pea soup, added some
extra ingredients and turned it up a notch this week.
It was rather yummy!

Lisa's Split Pea & Ham Soup
1 pkg split pea soup with seasoning packet
1 cup cubed ham pieces
2 cups chopped carrots
1 cup diced potatoes
1 tsp Morton's Nature Seasoning
6 cups water
In your crock pot, combine all the ingredients.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
Enjoy with homemade cornbread.

Chop your carrots and potatoes...
add the veggies and ham to the crock pot...
add the seasoning...
pour in the split peas and the seasoning packet...
add the water...cover...and cook on low for 6-8 hours...
Come home to a warm hug in a bowl!

I have never enjoyed split pea soup. I guess it was the oneness of just the green soup! LOL but this looks and sounds really good. We're gonna try this one since Jerry loves split pea soup.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I don't like the "green" of the regular split pea soup either, but this was more like a regular veggie soup to me and I imagined the ham tasted like beef in my favorite beef stew :) It was really good and simple!
