Biscuit & Gravy Casserole

Sharing this wonderful breakfast casserole that is always a hit!

My Daniel was able to come visit me for a few days this week.

Unfortunately I was sick the whole time, but I was able to cook him a "goodbye" breakfast on the day he had to go back to Tampa.

I treasure each moment I'm able to spend with my children
and miss them dearly when they leave--
I'll never get used to it--
but I always hope each one of them knows
how very much I love them--
they are my heart!

Biscuit & Gravy Casserole

6 frozen biscuits--or canned such as Grand's

12 oz pkg ground sausage, cooked and drained

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided

3 TBSP butter, melted

6 eggs, beaten

2 cups milk

1 pkg Country gravy mix

Bake biscuits according to directions.

Cool slightly and halve.

Brown sausage and drain.

Coat 11x8 baking dish with pam.

Layer bottom halves of biscuits in pan.

Sprinkle sausage over biscuits.

Sprinkle 1 1/2 cheese over sausage.

Whisk together eggs, milk and gravy mix.

Pour over cheese.

Layer top halves of biscuits--
I decided to break mine into pieces
and place them over the cheese.

Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Bake 425 degrees for 40 min.

Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup cheese

and return to oven for 5 minutes.

Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

My handsome son :)

The Yummy Ingredients...

(Oh, disregard the butter...it doesn't even go in this recipe!  :)

Cook the biscuits as directed on the package--

I love the frozen ones, but only had Grand's
and they worked just fine...

Ta--da!!

Layer the bottom halves in your 8x8 pan...

Next time I think I'll break them up into pieces as I did
for the tops in a future step...

Next, put the sausage in your skillet and brown...

Drain...

Pour over the biscuits...

Next add the cheese...

I didn't have any shredded cheese...crazy, I know!
I don't think this has ever happened!

You know now just how sick I've been this week!
Only 3 trips to doctor's offices but not one trip to a grocery store!

Anyway, we did have Colby Jack slices and they were awesome!

Next, combine the eggs,

Milk...

and the package of country gravy...

After whisking well, pour over the casserole...

Break up the biscuit tops and evenly distribute...

Cover and refrigerate overnight.

The next morning, bake 425 degrees for 40 minutes...

Take out of the oven and add more cheese and bake about
5 minutes more until the cheese is all melty...

It then will just be a pan full of most wonderfulness!!

How can this wonderful young man
leave his Momma after a breakfast like this?

That's right...this wonderful woman is waiting for him in Tampa :)

I'm so happy he has a wonderful life there with her!
